After we got the busted tire take care of, we drove out in search of a place where Craig could paint in plein air. Painting in plein air is a French phrase meaning to paint in the fresh air. Craig was equipped to be dropped off anywhere with a view.
First we drove out to the visitor center at Kincaid Park in Anchorage. There we found a beautiful view over Cook’s Inlet, but since it wasn’t the Alaska scene you might dream of, he didn’t set up his easel there.
See that little mark in the grass? That's Crepe Suzette. That cracks me up.
Here she is again, pitching a mad fit because we are leaving.
Yep. That's another rock.
Mom is cracking me up in this series of photos.
Before long Crepe Suzette skipped down there to be with her.
Then, we left Craig there.
To paint of course.
Inside a bubble!
Yes, I know. Why would one post such a horrid picture of themselves on their blog?
It's funny though ain't it?
Awesome blog Hayley, you should have been a writer.
ReplyDeleteYou didn't have to worry about me and Charley in the woods. She was telling me exactly what to do if we encountered a moose or bear. She tried to make me feel that she was protecting me. Then she would say Granna I think a bear got Grandiddy, I really do. Great Posts. Keep them coming.
ReplyDeleteCharley would tell me what to do if I encountered a bear step by step and I would add in "and stomp his toe and run"?? and she would say no-no Granddiddy don't stomp his toe just ring your bell and spray him and run !!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update, Hayley! You did such a wonderful job capturing your experience. I love the pics of your mom - that looks like such a pretty spot! Also, Craig's paintings are amazing!
ReplyDeleteYou SHOULD have been a writer. Your blogs are awesome! The paintings are beautiful. (your dad painted those in such a short time? What talent!)
ReplyDeleteI love your photos, and you all look great. It must have been wonderful to see your family.
I love this post, sister. I love the pics of all of us. I don't love that pic of me playing with that ball spinner thingy at the science museum, but that is okay. Looking at all these brings back good memories. I really had a lot of fun. I wanna do this all again soon. Well. Maybe spring.. ish. But I wanna see ya'll a lot sooner than that. California's 'bout ta sound pretty good to ya'll not too long from now, huh? IDN'T IT??
ReplyDeleteAlso, Ma, did this actually happen?: "Then she would say Granna I think a bear got Grandiddy, I really do." And she broke this news after she had been telling you a lot of encouraging and helpful tips about wildlife? THAT IS FUNNY STUFF.
BTW, I told Coge all about that hilarious game Crepe Suzette and I played where I would get judo chopped in the kidney 150 times by a mysterious "disease" with really great comic timing while writing a letter home to "Mothah". He laughed, too.
Thanks everybody. I'm a little late getting back to my comments. My internet is out....going on FOUR days now. making me crazy.
ReplyDeleteSunny, yes that actually happened. Ma said. And Crepe Suzette wanted me to play the "I'm dying" game with her when we got home. I tried but it wasn't the same.
Love those silhouette photos. Your mom really commands the attention, not just for her actions, lol, but in contrast to the mountains. Really nice.
ReplyDeleteSO much about this to talk about- the silhouette, the scenery, the paintings, your daughter's grumpy face hehe great post!
