Ok I've been holding back on ya'll. Not because I don't want to share, only because I've been busy settling in. I know, I know. It is no excuse. SO, here's to catching up. I'll start by posting some things from back when I lived in Alaska since tonight I am feeling particularly sweet on the friends we made there.
Can't you tell by The Little One's pajamas or the Big Man's wooly face?
That's the way we roll in Alaska baby. (a partial Charley Hoot)
Should we have more food? Should we call it off?
Are they really going to show up? Is the meat tender enough?
(Just random ideas of what this face could actually mean.)
Let the potluck begin. I am not sure what was the potluck theme was on this particular night (yes, we had themes). By the look of things, it was store bought cookies prettied up on a platter (no, that was not an actual theme, though it totally could be, if you wanted).
They're gonna get married soon.
Wild Indians.
Seriously.
They got a holt of some lipstick and homemade bread (that I totally made all by myself).

Rachel and Cheddar
A quick fact about Cheddar. He only became Cheddar after moving to Alaska (about a year ago) when our friend Jeff introduced him as such, without Chedrick's permission I'm sure...and YEP I just said Chedrick. With a name like that he belongs on All My Children or somethin' similar right?
Me and my husband, Chuck face
(Face is a funny word.)
(in case you didn't know)
The best part about Delta Junction is the people. Getting together with friends is what kept us sane in the winter. We had a weekly potluck dinner date every Thursday night. People came over to our place a couple of times...more often we'd go to Rachel or Jamie's. Kids were always welcome. Inevitably, they'd all stay up past their regularly scheduled bedtimes. We'd eat too much. The kids, who were busy playing, never ate enough. Fun times.
I do too hun. I do too.

Weekly PotLucks are Awesome!! We have one we attend here in Florida. Sorta like a Bible study combination Potluck. Food is Always involved!! We Baptist like to eat.
ReplyDeleteWe don't really need a reason....lol just Food, Fun and Fellowship!
AAAAaaaawwww.. Dat's so cute! Hey, y'all should be having those in Alabama, too. (When Chuck gets back and you get into a house, of course.) We have stuff sort of like that out here LA, but I have never actually had a "pot luck" where each person makes and brings one really good dish. What are some of the themes y'all did? Maybe you should do a post all about potluck themes. Yay! Food is delicious!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, those are very cute pics, especially of you and Chuck. Pretty skin, sister! You been eatin' your vegetables I see.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I'm sure it can get pretty isolating in Alaska if you let it get the best of you, so weekly get togethers with friends is awesome. I hope everyone's keeping in touch. They sound like lovely people.
ReplyDeleteI HAVE been eating my vegetables, thank you for noticing. Rachel was mostly in charge of potluck themes. Once we brought a dish beginning with the the first letter of your last name, Mexican night, breakfast, appetizers. We left just when it was getting interesting. She found some good ideas online.
