Ahhh the comforts of home...
Ahhh, the fun in watching for the rescue squad....
Back when we were visiting the Alabama-Georgia-California family members (in Alabama) I took it upon myself to call the law.
You see, everybody was like, "I smell gas,"
And I was like, "Oh that's awful. This can't be good."
And then the eldest few were like, "Yeah we are going to call the gas company on Monday."
And I was like, "No way. No way. We are going to call the gas company now."
And so I did.
And they didn't answer.
And I was like I am going call the law.
And so I did.
And they came. Like A LOT of them came.
And while they were out back investigating this rusty tank...
we were out front posing with all of their vehicles.
And when they left, they were like, "You did the right thing 'mam."
And I was like, (in my head, mostly) "Yeah, I'm a hero."
(and one awesome storyteller...right?)
And then we were free to enjoy activities
without fear of death by toxic fume inhalation or explosion.
And here's my mom and Charley having an adventure on the tube!
SO hilarious/fun in the photos, but SO nerve racking for a mother/aunt/daughter back in the boat.
Sunny and I are always afraid somebody is going to get their head loped off.
And here's my Dad and Uncle Sonny Boy doing what they love.
Fishing Tournament
I love going to nighttime fishing tournament weigh-ins.
I'm noticing a trend here...with the fish..with the water sports.
While we were there we walked in one of the grocery stores in town and saw this!
That's my sister! So funny/neat/weird.
Charley told the checkout girl that the girl on the magainze was her aunt (I may have told her to do it) and the checkout girl was all like, "heh". I was like, (in my head) "What do you MEAN heh? That's my sister! She's on the cover of this magazine!! Let us brag a little!! Patronize the kid! What's wrong with you girl??"
There I go, with my awesome storytelling again.
And you know, while this post does constitute what I like to call a "photo explosion", I really didn't feel like using my camera a lot during a trip. I guess I was a little preoccupied...maybe a little burned out. So there are plenty of events and family members not featured here.
So just in case someone feels left out, I'm sorry.
Sometimes I just have to lay the camera down and focus on family.
And since I didn't take enough photos, I am going to throw in some from a previous visit.
I'm trying really hard not to feel bad about altering the blog timeline.
Chuck carrying on with Uncle Sonny Boy.
Chuck carrying on with Aunt JoAnn.
Chuck reuniting with our cousin David after coming home from Alaska.
Apparently, my Aunt Sara's living room is his stage.
And hers.
Aunt JoAnn, Kelly, Callie, Max, and David
Can you spot the photo bomber?
Uncle Sonny Boy, Aunt Sara, Meri Grace, Angie, Mathew, and Matt
The heart of the home. Without these ladies and a few others who aren't featured (whom I am certain will appreciate the photograph of their backsides) these family gatherings would not be possible.
And without my Dad, the master of pyrotechnics,
these family gatherings would be, well, safer.
But not NEAR as much fun.
And unfortunately,
this is how our visit ended.
Though strangely this photo was from another visit.
Ha!
No.
It's really not funny at all.
It was a mess. And still is actually.
Thankfully my Dad and Judy GENEROUSLY offered their car to us so that we could get back to Virginia and my Dad and Uncle Sonny Boy took over the mess that is my car.
They decided it needed professional help.
And 674 dollars later, it needs more professional help.
I was moved to tears more than once by the generosity of family who've come to our aide during the stress of carrying a baby, having a couple of health scares, a kid with swimmer's ear and bronchitis, and car trouble.
Thank God for family.

Thank you so much for sharing all of these pictures of cousins I have not seen in alot of years. My mom would have loved to see these. She is not remembering too much of anyone anymore. It makes me very sad. She was very close with Aunt Louise. You have a beautiful family Hayley :) LOve your cousin, Lori
