It was a big job and one he had to do all by himself.
I try to keep the baby safe from bleach fumes and heights.
So, one big reason he was washing the house, was because it was, well, dirty.
The other even bigger reason he was washing the house, was because it was for sale.
Yeah, we decided to sell the house.
I know, I know, we've only been in the house for like a year.
But maybe, trying to lay down roots in a town we'd never stepped foot in, wasn't such a good idea.
I mean Gwynn's Island is great. Lots and lots of good about it.
But there are things....
like it's a bit far from Chuck's work.
We knew it was an hour one way, but that hour is a loooonnnggg one.
It's also 30 solid minutes from other conveniences,
like Wal-mart, most every fast food restaurant. gymnastics class, thrift stores.
An hour from any clothing store, mall, Target, thrift stores.
Then there's the yard. Ohmygosh the acreage to mow.
There's a lot of that.
Then the mosquitoes. There's a lot of those.
And the responsibility of it all...
We want to be FREE!
We are tired of fearing the demise of large appliances and a/c units.
We are tired of being tied down.
I mean once upon a time, the house we owned in Alabama,
kept Chuck and I apart for nearly a year!
We should have learned our lesson about home ownership.
I mean later, yes, when we settle, we would like to partake in home ownership again.
But not now, not when there is still so much to figure out.
We should have rented.
But no shoulda, woulda, coulda for us.
We are gonna.
Because praise God we sold our house!
After only 2 1/2 months on the market no less!!
So because my house was clean, I documented it.
Beyond Charley's little room, I never really got too into decorating here.
I just used what I had to make it comfortable and uncluttered.
I had a vision for the kitchen...I just knew with a little paint it could be sweet, but I never did work up the gumption required for removing hinges, and sanding, and painting, and painting, and painting. I guess on some level, I knew this house wasn't it for me.
There are some things paint can't change.
Paint did do this bathroom a world of good.
I know teal isn't the best color for resell purposes but it did give the room a fresh, youthful lift.
Plus, it was in the $5.00 oops paint can section.
Paint helped this little vanity too. It was that wood, that's not really wood, that is supposed to resemble wood...you know what I mean. Why are we faking wood now?
I got the mirror from a yard sale for $10.00 to replace the plain jane builder's special.
I use my Nanny's old sewing?? bag to hold toilet paper and the laundry basket to hold clean towels.
When you store your towels in a laundry hamper you don't even have to fold them!!
Best. idea. ever.
The master bedroom is simple, but cozy.
And you've seen Charley's room.
And her hideout.
This was the makings of Chuck's study.
But he never really studied anything in there.
Now we are exciting about moving into a rental and praying we close without incident.
Pray with us, would you?

Thank God you didn't buy in Alaska. You came so close but God intervened didn't He? What was it again that prevented that sale?
ReplyDeleteIt was because the well was in the wrong place and the owner didn't want to pay to add an additional one. The second time was because we lost our renters in Alabama so we got out of it based on the financial conditions in the contract. Yeah, for sure divine intervention.
DeleteWill call when we get home...see my email. Alice
DeleteVirginia looks beautiful, but I can see why it may not be practical for you to live on Gwinn's Island. (especially with soon to be two little girls! :) ) Lovely house you have there, but good choice in renting for now. :) Good luck with the closing Hayley! Prayers sent! :)
ReplyDeleteYou did good with that little house, sister. You made it cute and cozy, but I could tell you didn't want to pour the attention into one you thought you'd be in for a while. Can't wait to see where your next adventure takes you. (here here here please here) I'm very happy y'all sold your house.
