A lot has been happening around here lately…
After traveling back from Alabama with Mom, we got to work packing up the remaining household goods and hauling it all over to the new rental. I tell ya, moving is hard work on a pregnant body. Dang, it’s hard work on any body.
Chuck and I used our own vehicles and made lots of trips. In hindsight we should have gotten a trailer and paid for some help, but we made do. Chuck always shocks me with his unnatural, circus-like strength. I did some heavy lifting myself, though I found that wasn't terribly trying. It was all the bending and the up and down stair traveling that wore me out.
Oh and the aftermath… I always say, it doesn't matter how clean of a person you think you are, when you move, all manners of filth are revealed. Well, not so much revealed, but tracked in...and let's be honest...also...revealed. It’s hard to clean while moving, so the dirt just accumulates in every corner and you pray that nobody decides to visit during those really rough days.
I always clean after getting everything out, although I’ve moved into many locations where the owners just got their stuff out and hightailed it, leaving a disgusting mess in their wake. Moving into a filthy place is always disheartening, which makes me especially grateful for our new place.
When Charley and I were on the search for a rental we found some doozies.
Some nasty, nasty, yet expensive, doozies. Since Chuck couldn't be there during the showings, I took the camera along. While the realtor wasn't looking, I zoomed in on some of the highlights. I HAD to show Chuck why I wasn't into one particular waterfront house. While the water was nice, the house was not.
I did not photograph the spacious rancher, complete with it’s avocado colored tub, nailed shut door, and the kitchen with the freestanding extra stove, you know, just in case.
GROSS.
ReplyDeleteIt really baffles me how people can live like that. :(
But why can't there be MORE rust stains. And that one bathroom could be just a little bit more blue. If you ask me.
