Sunny gave me this keychain the last go 'round (over 7 years ago now) and it always makes me happy. And sometimes the belly falls out, which adds to the fun. |
I just
crossed the threshold. You know, that point when you grow incredibly tired of
being pregnant? When you feel like you are folding your baby’s head in half
just to tie your shoes. That point where you look back through pictures and
realize you’ve been pregnant FOR ALMOST A YEAR!! And you think back to the time when you cried
3 times before 10:30 a.m. Or the time you laughed/sobbed at some random video
on youtube and instead of hugging you, your husband got out the video camera.
OR, that time you sat down and cried in Wal-mart because you were hot? And the
only way you could get through it, was take off your sweater to reveal the tank
top that was never meant to be worn in public, and to remove your boots and
borrow some Mary Jane's from the Wal-mart shelf.
I’m at that
point when the doctor’s visits change. Because up until recently, it was all
about the belly. And now suddenly it’s not. Totally not about the belly
anymore. Yeah.
If my belly
were a mountain (and let’s face it, it sorta is) I could trace what would be an
- edge of your seat - episode of the Discovery Channel's, "Most Dangerous Roads" show, by following the blue blood vessels.
Oh and recently the brand new stretch marks have revealed themselves! Yeah they’re in some
great NEW locations this time around.
But really, I don’t mind stretch marks. Really.
I mean, yes, I could live without them. Happily. But to me, they’re like my
mothering battle wounds. They’re not like a really cool, tough, knife
wound to the cheek, but still, stretch marks are cool in their own way. And
what choice do I have in the matter anyway? No, you can’t prevent them. I am a
firm believer that no amount of lotion will do. If you didn’t or don’t get
them, thank your mama, and her mama, and God, because it’s all in the genes
man.
But the good
news is, my belly button seems determined to remain an innie (albeit a real
shallow one), I’m still avoiding the waddle (unless it’s been a really, long day), and the incredibly, swollen face stage hasn’t hit yet (at least I think it hasn’t hit yet). I feel pretty
good. I think it’s because I’ve been so busy. So constantly, continuously,
busy…… moving, and Christmas-ing, and cleaning, and baby furniture putting
together-ing. It does a body good, I suppose.

You make a strong case for pregnancy. I am definitely looking forward to it after this post. Wait, I'm sorry. The opposite of that.
