Charley is a bit of a hoarder.
Hello. My name is Charley. I hoard stuffed animals.
Here she is in Alaska, when I told her she was only allowed
the amount of stuffed animals that would fit in this basket.
When we moved into this smallish rental house, I had to find a solution for Charley's collection.
The solution wasn't that basket.
Getting rid of her stuffed animals was NOT an option.
No sir.
Don't even suggest it.
Though in all fairness, Charley did weed some out. She did.
In fact, she weeded out a few stuffed animals that I added back.
Wait.
I think I just found the root of her hoarding problem. (It's me.)
But stuffed animals have FEELINGS ya'll.
You can't just throw them out.
So I searched craigslist for a "canvas bin."
And searched and searched and searched,
until finally, I found one.
Actually there were several, but from one seller.
Since the bins were across the bridge
(an hour away but near to where Chuck works),
I asked him to go get it for me.
He did NOT want to do it.
But he did.
He brought home the cleanest of the dirtiest bins there.
See, I thought they'd be ok, because they were from an old apparel business.
I was wrong.
So I got down on my pregnant knees and hose pipe in hand, scrubbed that sucker out.
The bin came way cleaner than the old pessimist Chucky thought it would.
I was pleased.
Pleased enough to let my kid climb on in.
So all in all...months of searching on craigslist, sweet forcing a husband to go get the bin, $30.00, a lot of bleach inhalation, razor blade usage (to scrap dried up glue-like substance), and a whole lot of effort from a very pregnant lady
= a semi appreciative daughter

That bin looks so awesome, I want to climb into it.
ReplyDeleteToo bad I'm a grownup.
Oh heck, I'm 4'11, I'm just gonna do it.
PS: I totally DIDN'T have so many stuffed animals piled on my bed that it took me a half hour every night to clear them off.
No sir.
Great purchase Hayley. Love the toy hamper and the deer rug on he floor. I'm sure Charley appreciates getting to keep most of her animals.
ReplyDeleteHahaha she looks funny in there. Well I admire your determination and hard work. Seems like it was worth it after all. Looks great in that room.
