Diane "Pug" Mabrey
September 8th, 1949 - May 21st, 2013My Aunt Pug deserves an eloquently written tribute, but I am at a loss for words. I can tell you that she loved her family. I think her world revolved around them. I can tell you she had lots of friends. She was funny. She liked to laugh. I never saw her in a bad mood. She wasn't judgemental. She was always welcoming. She believed in God. She was in church every Sunday...same spot.
But what I can't tell you is why she's gone. I can't wrap my mind around it. She was only 63. A very young 63. She was a healthy, beautiful woman. One day she was well and the next day she wasn't. There were moments when we thought she was going to bounce right out of it, but she kept getting worse. I was praying for her. I knew she had lots of people praying for her. I tried to stay
positive even when the updates weren't hopeful. But she didn't get better. She died less than three months after contracting staph infection.
She leaves behind an plethora of family and friends who are struggling to understand what went wrong. They're struggling to understand how they can live in a world without Pug.
Please pray for her family...especially the immediate ones.
"People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel. -Maya Angelou
My Aunt Pug made me feel loved and accepted.

Hayley what you wrote was from your heart and was so true. Larry and I married 12-5-76 and I did not know anyone in Alabama City but his family which were wonderful people. Shortly after we started to Dwight where Pug was one of the first and for the past 36 years never changed. These few days I have thought about what a battle she fought just to carry and bring Justin into his wonderful world and how much she loved him. I have always been a people person and not long after I moved down here I went to a female party at Marcie Milner's home where I was introduced to another beautiful lady which was your mother and I have never forgotten that.
ReplyDeleteThank you Flonnie.
DeletePraying for the family Hayley. I wish I remembered more about her. My mom would be very sad. Love to you and family :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for writing this tribute to her, sister. I can't believe she's gone. Our family gatherings won't be the same without Aunt Pug and Martin. My comfort is knowing they are together and with Jesus in Paradise. They were (and will always be) loved.
