We'd rather find a tree in the wild, but if you aren't in Alaska, generally, people don't like it when you do that. They call it "trespassing" and "stealing." Blah blah blah Plus you can't just go into the woods here and find a nice tree. You'll find plenty of Charlie Brown's, but that wasn't what we had in mind. The next best option would to find a Christmas Tree at a farm but the trees that grow around here are pine and they aren't as pretty as the firs. So, we went to Lowe's.
This is what Chuck and Charley do at Lowe's.
Well, not only at Lowe's. They'll run amok in any store.
They cause numerous scenes.
Poor Bo Bo
She's afraid of moving, talking things.
This year Charley picked out our tree in record time.
She chose the first tree she handled.
It was amazing, and bitterly cold.
A nice lady offered to take a picture of all four of us.
Too bad Bo was in the direct sunlight with her back to the camera.
Charley took our traditional kissing photos and I guess that's kinda weird,
but not as weird as when we kissed on the lips for the camera and apparently that was the first time she'd seen us kiss on the lips. Super parenting skills we've got, I know.
DON'T look at my roots. You better not.
How dare you.
At Home
Bo's like a wild puppy. Get down on the ground and she's all over you.
And this little girl...
She pretty much decorated the tree all by herself, even saying once,
"Mom, when I need your help, I'll ask for it."
Ok, then. I'll just go sit back down.
And hey, that's fine by me.
I know we're not supposed to admit it, but decorating year after year is tiresome. Everybody (Chuck) wants to enjoy all the decorations but nobody (Chuck) wants to do any of the actual decorating.
So when Charley wanted to take over, I said, go for it baby! And thank you!
I loved our tree that was up before Thanksgiving (because it had to come down two weeks before Christmas) and decorated with sentimental ornaments on it's upper half and bare on the lower half (because of the baby).
Good job Charley.

Great pictures Hayley!! Love the tree Charley! Good job. You all look beautiful and I tried not to look at your roots. Love this blog and the tree was really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my favorite blogs I've seen in a while. I like that there are pictures of you in it. You look really pretty. Roots are "in", btw. It's so awesome that y'all let Charlie pick out the tree. We run amok in the stores also. I love these pictures. You're a great and funny writer, sister. Write a book.
ReplyDeleteRoots are in? Awesome.
