I'd like to start by saying that I wish the Elf on the Shelf was never invented.
I mean come on? Do we really need more magic in Christmas?
We actually have a rather large elf that I inherited when my Mom decided to revamp her tree. I think he's probably from the 1960's. He's always been one of Charley's favorite ornaments.
But here's the thing, last year Charley came home each day in December talking about how her little friends have these elves that come alive and cause mischief. She wondered why her elf didn't come to life. She appeared to be quite sad about the situation. Our elf decided to spring into action.
He didn't have a choice.
Here are just SOME of his shenanigans from Christmas 2014
The great thing about having a vintage elf is that you can touch him (you know those "official" elves on the shelves won't allow it). But of course, he's only active at night.
Charley wanted more from their relationship (see below).
I don't blame her. Having a living elf friend would be awesome.
(It should read "Spa Certificate" in place of "Spa Serta feet".
There was a misunderstanding between Charley's teacher and Charley's handwriting.)

How adorable. I wish I could have seen her surprise every morning. Elf apparently stayed in Virginia during Christmas I take it? Otherwise I missed a lot.
ReplyDeleteWe brought him to Alabama Mom but he kept his mischief upstairs.
DeleteWell this is adorable. Now that Bo is around, I bet she's more ok with not having the elf actually come to life.. maybe.
ReplyDeleteNo. Bo is no substitute for a living, breathing, elf friend, I'm afraid.
