Recently, I ran across a list of name ideas Charley made when we were expecting little Bo Magnolia. She was having a hard time coming to terms
with the idea of a sibling, though she wouldn't say it outright.
I think her list of names says it all.
She couldn't have known that she would have been moved to tears while holding Bo after her birth. She couldn't have known that she would have felt compelled to thank me for having Bo months after her birth.
How could she have known she'd be saying to her sister,
"You're the best sister. You are the BEST little sister. I just LOVE you."
She couldn't have known that Bo would call her name when she wakes up in the morning, "ARLEEEE! ARLEEE!!"
And as soon as we near the school parking lot in the afternoons.
"ARLEEEE! ARLEEE!!"
Charley couldn't have known that Bo would dive into her arms
when she comes out of the classroom laying kisses on her face.
She had no idea. None of us did.
And when Bo Magnolia comes to me asking why she has such an unusual name, I'll tell her to be grateful. If it were up to her sister she might have been Fruit Cot Tail or Lecerish.
