Lately the family has just been hanging out, busily doing a lot of nothing.
We are enjoying Chuck's vacation from work.
We haven't had this much free time together since high school.
Recently, Chuck and I got inside two of these:
Then we worked together to spring Minnow from the water and onto the ledge of my tube (NOT an easy feat). She clung there precariously, I kicked my feet as if they were flippers, and Chuck balanced three rods while literally towing us out to his latest fishing hole.
(It's amazing what a man will do to catch some fish.)
Minnow and I were on one end of his rope and Big Bertha (see below) was on the other.
When we arrived where the mayflies had hatched and the fish were biting, we slung Minnow into Big Bertha and then we all three had our very own redneck, river rat, fishing specials.
Minnow had a little rig of her own and Chuck set me up with a fly rod. Then he put us on top of the fish. I lost count after reeling in 7 or 8 breams. Between untangling Minnow's line and pulling her off the bank and out of the spider bushes, Chuck barely got to cast his own line, so when Minnow tired of the fish, she and I swam for the shore and left Chuck to do some real fishing.
He loves the water and the fish.
And despite what he may believe or say out loud (not advisable) he's fit A LOT of fishing into our family's schedule (we have none) lately.

Awesome!! :)
