Same day, two different dye jobs

Alright, alright...one of them is bleach.

Preparing the Car Seat for Flight
I planned to check the car seat on our AL-VA flight, since we were going to need it for the long truck ride home. But only, it was really gross.

I couldn't bear the thought of all those baggage handlers (strangers) seeing it that dirty.
Embarrassing right?
But somehow posting here, on my blog (friends), makes sense to me.
After all, we gotta keep it real ya'll.
I don't want any of you thinking we are perfect over here in the Burns' Family with our taped up rear views and bungy corded bumpers, right? So here it is. Brace yourselves.

You KNOW yours is as dirty as mine.
No?
Ok, well yours must have BEEN this dirty at some point in the past.
DON'T YOU LIE TO ME!!!
I'm sorry.
I am just lashing out due to embarrassment.
I. CANNOT. NOT. BE. THE. ONLY. ONE.

So, I had this bright idea.
I was going to dye it black.
I thought it was the only color that would cover the gray/brown soiling.

I had to borrow a bucket from my dad.
We took the car seat cover off, dunked it, sloshed it, soaked it, poked it with a stick.
Annnnddddd....
it totally didn't work.
Apparently, all that stain resistance treatment (ha!) that was woven into the fabric repels dye.
SO, I said all this to say...
don't bother dying your car seat.
Though, all that dunking, sloshing, soaking, and poking did do some good.
It looks mucho better now.
I swear.
Now that you've seen our car seat, can our we still be friends?

Would it make you feel better if I told you that I chided Uncle Charlie about his truck seat being so stained and dirty. I would have never thought it of him, but it is true -- it was very, very soiled. So there.
Are you in Virginia and did you feel the earthquake?
