Let's go back to a time when I was living in Rainbow City, Alabama.
Not long ago.
I was struggling to be productive.
I've always wanted to make something people wanted to buy.
I knew chalkboards were "in", so I decided to make a few.
I started with a few of these....
The price was right...
I sanded them down...
Cleaned them up...
Gave the child something to occupy her time....
And mixed up some chalkboard paint...
Yes, I made my own! You can too! Just go see Martha and she'll tell you how.
One thing she didn't mention is that if you make enough to save for later, it'll turn to rubber.
Also, even after a thorough mixing, you'll still see some little granules in the paint. They won't pose a problem as, strangely enough, they fade into the painted surface once applied.
Follow Martha's instructions and you can mix it up in any color.
I went with black....
I put about 4,000 coats of paint on my frames...
Sewed and hot glued embellishments...
And put it all together!
I even made the backs pretty!
The only problem is, I kept two and gave one away.
So much for my sell stash.

LOL!! They are Awesome!! I want to keep them all!! :)

ReplyDeleteWe are so glad you gave one away! Lil' Mc loves her chalkboard! I so agree with Miz Liz that you should make more and sell them! You are so creative and talented.
