We had a wonderful Easter weekend full of family events. Church was great (I helped out with the little round babies in the nursery). I enjoyed the drive to church most of all because that is when I introduced Bunny Foo Foo to my favorite Easter song of all time…”He’s Alive” by Dolly Parton. My old youth director, Allen Hudson, used to sing a very powerful version as well. I won’t post the lyrics here but I recommend watching this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9Rw5UYbf8c&NR=1 As you listen, try to put yourself there. What an awesome gift…what an enormous sacrifice.
On Saturday, while the kids frolicked between the sprinkler and a small inflatable pool and my sister-in-law and I watched from a plastic tablecloth in the yard, Chuck was standing on a frozen lake, talking to a German family about how to catch fish under the ice. The following day, while Chuck was boring his first ice fishing hole, a brave few of us (My Dad, the kids, and I) were eating Easter lunch on a screened-in porch underneath the breeze of a ceiling fan. After lunch, I did what I always do: wander around the yard with the Mabrey men. Chuck got in on our aimless yard wandering too via speakerphone. The Mabrey men and I listened as he explained that he had just drilled a 4' hole into an ice covered lake and was using a short fishing pole to catch trout. While he was talking (and sniffling because of the cold air) I noticed the sweat shimmering off my Uncle's head.
Last night, Chuck and I sang our nighttime songs to Bunny Foo Foo together. The delay made it comical...comical until singing to our baby separated by over 4,000 miles, made me cry. So, it comes as no surprise to me that I am feeling a little down today. I miss Chuck, a lot. Not knowing when we will see each other again is really weighing heavily on me. Not having a plan is hard. I guess it all boils down to having faith. But here’s the thing, I don’t know what God has in mind for us. Do I have faith that we will be together soon? But what if God doesn’t think we should sell the house anytime in the near future? Well, what if? There isn’t anything I can do about that. What I can do, is continue to have faith that God's will, will be done. I'll shake the down and outs after a day or two.
After a busy Easter weekend, Bunny Foo Foo and I are taking it easy. So far our day has consisted of cartoons, coloring, and wandering around the yard. Hopefully the rest of the day will be just as slow…although, an offer on the house would be a welcome interruption.

Hang in there, Hayley. My husband and I were married for almost a year before I was able to move to GA (from Philly) to live with him. It was so hard to be away from him, and we saw each other for long weekends and summer vacation, but I was sure in the end that it would all work out - and it did!
ReplyDeleteI know all will be well with you and your family. Before you know it, you'll be settled into your new home and looking back on these days feeling pretty good about 'surviving'.
Sending prayers and positive thoughts your way!
Susan
I hope you are feeling a little better today - I know it must be hard, but hang in there. Maybe the house will sell soon & you'll be on your way when it gets too hot to do anything here. Should be 90 here in GA today (I think we skipped spring) so Jordan & I will be playing in his pool. They say it will start being around 70 on Friday - that will be a little better...Take care! Think positive!
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan and Phyllis. I really do believe it won't be long. I am usually very confident about that but there are times when I allow myself to worry. We are showing the house on Thursday, so that is good news!
