How To Follow Through with Daughter's Requests for Jane Outfit

TOP
1. Find one old sleeveless tank.
2. Cut in half.
3. Put top half of tank on child to get an idea of how to take in the sides for a better fit.
4. Sew a straight line down both sides to take it in (Be sure to leave arm holes!).
5. Turn top around backwards if yours has an adult size v-neck like mine.

SKIRT
1.Take bottom half of tank (a strip of fabric sewn together).
2. Add button to one side at waist level.
3. Put bottom of tank on child at waist level and mark where button should meet the fabric for a snug fit.
4. Remove and cut button hole with scissors.

You're done!

Remember Jane wouldn't have had a sewing machine in the jungle so rough edges are not only ok, they are what you want.

Lil' Jane has a crush on Tarzan. Which is funny 'cause my Mom and I also have a crush on Tarzan. Our Tarzan is originally from Greystoke (hubba bubba) and Lil' Jane's Tarzan is animated.

Well Dang. I knew that sooner or later you'd post all my crushes on the durn internet. Just go ahead and tell them about Keanu Reeves and Simon Cowell too. At least when mine die I cease to swoon unlike somebody I know that still swoons over Elvis. I LOVE the Jane outfit and the picture of her in the jungle. Good job.

I just had to look at Jane one more time before going to bed. Beautiful.

That is really really cute! That's some good clothes making skills, sister. Next time, you'll have to take pics of the step-by-step process, so the sewing-challenged people like myself can understand. Also, I like Tarzan (legend of Greystoke) also, but alas... animated Tarzan has very "sharp features"... like razor sharp.

YES! Animated Tarzan's features are so sharp I can't get past it. Apparently Charley is ok with that. She has varied taste in men...from animated Tarzan to Tim to Max to Charlie Daniels.

The tree is in the front yard over here at Mama's. I will tell Charley.

Thanks Heather. You could do it...minimal sewing, REALLY.

Aw, such a cute costume! You are talented! I'm wanting to learn how to sew. Any suggestions for a good sewing machine for a beginner?

This wasn't difficult, REALLY. It was just two straight seams. Most of the sewing was already done since it already existed as a tank top before I began. I have a singer but don't know the details (it is currently in a storage unit in Canada) but it is a lightweight inexpensive model. Good luck!
