Shutterfly Photo Cards

I love sending out Christmas cards. As a norm, we send non-traditional cards featuring Charley merrily screaming her head off at the end of an exhausting photo shoot or Christmas tree hunt. For me, shooting the photo for the card is the fun part. Designing them is a different story.

For years, it seemed all that was available were those long, narrow, rectangular cards that were once so popular at Wal-Mart. Of course, I wasn't willing to do what everybody else was doing (I just have to make life difficult like that for some reason), so I decided to design them on my computer using my own software, then have them printed at the local copy shop. I thought that doing it that way would save me a few dollars and allow me a bit more creative freedom. I was wrong about the dollars part. Also, I quickly discovered that the local copy shops were not equipped to print out great quality photo cards.

To avoid the hassle and the expense, this year we are going with Shutterfly. They have an amazing selection and their prices are great. AND, what makes Shutterfly especially great, is that my cards will be free! If you write a blog and want to tell others what Shutterfly has to offer then yours can be free too! Click here for details.

We absolutely must take advantage of this offer since this year we live in a winter wonderland. Alaska is truly the perfect Christmas backdrop. Our family from Alabama, Georgia, and California will likely enjoy getting a Christmas card from their wayward sons.

Here are some of my favorites straight from Shutterfly.

I love the look of the cards that feature one great picture. Simple is great. Of course, I probably won't be able to choose just one photo so I might go with one of the multi-photo card designs.

How ever do I choose?

I love the Peace Love and Joy one. You could make a family photo in the snow with a the cabin in the background. My Friend could make the picture. Oh what was I thinking? My Friend needs to be a part of the family photo. You've got that automatic timer right? Charley needs to be happy in this one though.

Yeah Mom, My Friend totally needs to be in it. I will try to work him in. We brought Charley in tonight and she was really sleepy and pretending like she was asleep, making us carry her limp body in the house and even to the toilet (and loving every minute of it). And every time we sat her down My Friend came up and licked her in the face so much I had to push him back. He's so sweet.

    Thanks Janice.

    Me too Tina, me too.

Yeah Phyllis I thought about mentioning that my sister in law loves their photo books but I couldn't seem to work it in right.

Dang Karla. We usually send out around 40-50 cards, so that AND the postage normally set us back a pretty penny or two. Too bad I didn't post in time for you to get in on the deal.

Do you have my mailing address? I wanna card I wanna card I wanna card. I've never done the Christmas card thing.. Well, maybe one time back in college... but I've NEVER done the picture Christmas card thing. In fact, I think most people I know would fall over in shock if they got a card from me with Cogeian smiling on the front wearing a red scarf and mittens. I suppose I could send a real life-type card with him shooting someone with a red paintball while making a rambo face. MeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrryyChristmas.

Yeah I got your address sister. Yeah why on earth don't you do Christmas cards?? That seems really odd now that I think about it. Why not? Don't you think people want to see you? Do it. Today. Now.

Well, you know I'm not good with stuff like that. I'd buy a pack, get half-way through makin' 'em out, and then Christmas would happen, real sudden-caught-off-guard-like for me. Then, I don't know why, but I think I'd lose the motivation.
