Destruction

Thank you dear Lord,
for the SAFETY of my FAMILY and FRIENDS,
for the HOUSE around me,
for a SOFT place to REST,
for the down COMFORTER where my daughter sleeps,
for the AIR CONDITIONING that keeps us COOL,
thank you even for this COMPUTER and the BLANKET in my lap.

Please be with those who have lost
LOVED ONES,
their HOMES,
their FURNITURE,
their CLOTHING,
their KEEPSAKES,
their PHOTOGRAPHS....

Ohatchee, Alabama
Taken just 2 1/2 miles from where we found our safe place.

I grew up in Ohatchee and moved to Idaho when I was 10. My family is relieved to hear our friends are safe. The sad part to me is that I know now that if and when I ever return for a visit, the landscape will be forever changed.

Hey! I've been coming here to see if you had posted that ya'll were okay. Glad to see everybody is fine! When it passed us they said it was headed towards Southside and I thought of ya'll. Really relieved ya'll are all okay.

Hayley, I too kept checking here to see if you and your family were okay. I'm so glad that you are safe. Looking at the pictures, it is just so devastating, hard to believe what can happen in a wink of an eye. We had a little wind damage in our area but I'll not complain. Our prayers go out to everyone!

Hayley, I'm so glad you and your family are safe. I've always thought your Alabama landscape pictures were beautiful (especially the river pictures) so seeing the devastaion here breaks my heart. I think Ohatchee was featured on the news tonight, as well as another town in Mississippi that was badly hit. Thank you for posting the address where we can help. :) I'll keep everyone in my prayers.

This is shocking. I can't believe all this destruction is right down the road from us and on our river. Thank God all our family is safe, and God help all those affected by this. Let's pray for these people. Good job including the number to call to help there at the bottom, sister. Everyone can also donate $10. to the disaster relief fund by texting the word "REDCROSS" to 90999.
Thanks for taking these photos, too, sister. They really help us all to see it on a more personal level than CNN ever could.

My heart breaks for all of these families - all of my prayers are going up.

And I am SO thankful that you and your family found safety (and each other) in the James Spann room.
