I wonder...

I wonder if Chuck will feel comfortable wearing that beard with 105 degree heat indexes. I wonder where the degree symbol is on the keyboard. I wonder if it will be easy to make friends in Virginia. I wonder if we'll be able to find a home we can settle into. I wonder how Moon Pie will like the school. I wonder if she'll be able to get into a good one. I wonder if Virginians have a different southern accent than us? I wonder if it will it be alright if I deepen my southern accent to a more Scarlet O'Hara style and start pronouncing Virginia the way I believe a southern belle should? I wonder, will Moon Pie want to spend all of her time in Williamsburg pushing a wooden hoop with a stick in the dirt? Hmmmm, I pose some good questions.

We stayed in southern North Carolina for six weeks a couple of years ago. They had a difficult time understanding Leah. (Apparently her accent is deeper than ours.) It was still a lot of fun. I was always extra nice to people so they would know that I brought my southern hospitality with me...and yes, I did deepen my accent. :)

Hayley, I'm catching up on your blog and just wanted to say I'm so happy that you are family again. Enjoy Virginia - you'll be fine!

I bet Chuck will shave, it's hard for Kurtis to have any facial hair in Florida. Virginians do have a slightly different accent and they have a tendency to talk faste. I even type super fast....did you notice???
Moon Pie will LOVE it!!! :)

I think everything's gonna turn out just fine. I've never been to the deep south, but I have found that every accent (espeically southern ones) seems different depending on the area. I've been to Virginia, and once you hit Richmond and below, it sounds (and seems) more southern. If your in Arlington or Alexandria, it's more DC'ish.

When I was in Ohio, I defnately had a kind of midwestern/southern twang to my voice. If you drove just a bit more south though, the people there defnately sounded more southern. (and it was the same state! :) )My mom (being from NJ) had that "jouswey" accent that she never got rid of. When I moved back to NJ at 15, people thought I "talked different" and I couldn't figure out why. Now, that twang comes out when I'm on the phone with my Ohio girlfriends, but only when I laugh, or say Y'all. Other then that, I sound like I'm a NJ'ian. I miss my old accent, hahahaha.
