We don't get much exploring time around here.
The j-o-b gets in the way...
School eats up some time....
Broken down cars cut into chunks of the day...
Job hunting requires forms and forms to fill out, time to doll up,
The days preceding job hunts are spent fretting and praying for grace and wisdom, repeatedly, in a debilitating kind of way,
There were 3 acres of grass to mow....
A lawnmower to go deeper into debt for....
One heck of a stuff filled house to sort through....
I will admit the stress of it all has been getting to us.
We haven't really been reveling in the time we have off.
When we do get a chance to explore our little town, we're quieter.
We feel older, less enthusiastic.
We're just plain stressed.
That's all.
We have to find a way to snap out of this funk.
So, each time we get out, we put on a happy face...
Oh wait, ummm,
Happy face. That's better.
We paddled (by we, I mean Chuck) out to this beautiful island.
And then we saw.....
"NO TRESPASSING" &
"PRIVATE PROPERTY"
signs posted all over it.
And so we were like, dang, who owns an island anyway?
We're goin' for it.
We didn't have any run-ins with the law or the locals.
(but likely, I will now that I've posted about our law breaking)
But you know what, don't be selfish.
We just wanted to look ok?
I mean, God made it.
(not you)
Plus, taking pictures helps me feel better.
And fishing is good for Chuck.
And if Chuck and I feel better, it helps Charley's general outlook also.
So if you want to take that away from us, then just go ahead and call the cops.

Oh Goody! Another post. This is absolutely beautiful Hayley. You are a great photographer. I have a feeling that you are in a very good place and things will just keep getting better and better. Keep the faith. Love you and miss you much. Mom.
ReplyDeleteYAY!!! Love hearing from hearing!! Love the island:)
ReplyDeleteits a shame they don't want to share God's Beautiful Island with everyone else....oh wellGlad you took a little look see
These pictures are so, so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSometimes, when stress and uncertainty consumes us, all we can do is take a deep breath and hang on for the ride, While the twists and turns can sometimes be scary, you always find beauty along the way too. I'm glad you captured your moment of beauty on your camera. I'm sure things will even out for you Hayley. I agree with that you seem like you are in a wonderful (and safe) place. Not that Alaska wasn't beautiful (oh those awesome photos!) but the Virginia coast seems like a great fit for you and your family. Congrats on your new home. :)
Hey this is cool... I like that island. Good pics, too. I hope it's not off limits cuz of some kind of toxic waste problem. Mmkay bye.
