Simplest non-store-bought costume ever.
Face paint is a really versatile costume tool to have on hand.
And the ears are just cut from paper then taped to a headband.
I made them in like 45 seconds.
When I handed them to the Black Cat, I was a little nervous she'd laugh me out of the room.
But, she LOVED them.
Thankfully she's still in the easily pleased stage of life.

And yes, of course I did tell her beforehand that she would likely
be the only child dressed up at the school festival.
She was perfectly o.k. with that, and even admitted that she likes the attention.
And don't we all, don't we all...
No, actually for most of us, being the only one dressed up
AT ANY EVENT ON EARTH would be a nightmare.
All I know for sure is this, we SHORE did drive some business to that face painting booth.
Sorry, kids. This job was professional....and by professional I mean, I did it at my kitchen table.
Standing out is ok every now and then, but personally, as a norm, I like to blend.
I've found that participating in school functions
gives me a sense of belonging, which means I can blend easily.
It's like we're in this new club (only it is elementary school), where participation is encouraged.
Plus, your kid gets to have fun there (and learn and stuff).
So, yay for public school. I am FOR it.
I love it!!! You knew I was looking forward to another post and this one is great. The cat costume is wonderful and looks puurrrfectly natural on her. I'm afraid she has some acting blood running through those veins. Great face painting mom!!
ReplyDeleteShe is so cute pretending to be a cat. Especially with My Friend. Ha!! Very good face painting, sister. Seriously... Looks like you airbrushed it, but I know you didn't do that... Stippling? I cannot believe she went to school knowing she'd be the only one dressed up. That takes a different brain make-up than what I've got. I admire it.

Yay for public school indeed! And your face painting is awesome.
I love it! She is great & hopefully she will always be this bold (to do her own thing & not worry about what everyone else is doing). I think it shows true character - she is not being a slave to 'the norm'. I am glad school is working out for the family - sounds like you are enjoying it:)
