Destruction

Thank you dear Lord,
for the SAFETY of my FAMILY and FRIENDS,
for the HOUSE around me,
for a SOFT place to REST,
for the down COMFORTER where my daughter sleeps,
for the AIR CONDITIONING that keeps us COOL,
thank you even for this COMPUTER and the BLANKET in my lap.

Please be with those who have lost
LOVED ONES,
their HOMES,
their FURNITURE,
their CLOTHING,
their KEEPSAKES,
their PHOTOGRAPHS....

Ohatchee, Alabama
Taken just 2 1/2 miles from where we found our safe place.

I am not a Princess

(not me)

Who knew right? Ya'll all thought I was a princess. I know. But as it turns out, I'm not. I know this because I can sleep with a relic of a flip style cell phone jammed under my pillow and not feel a thing.

Now that my husband is over 4000 THOUSAND miles away, I am better at keeping up with the phone and answering incoming calls in general (though I am sure there will be several come forward and refute that). Sleeping with the cell phone gives me peace of mind that, IF Chuck were to fall out of that loft and break his back, and IF he were to yell for help, and IF the neighbor were to somehow hear him and come running, --- insert sarcasm font here —> then Chuck could tell him my cell phone number, and IF the neighbor called, I would hear the call. And then, I would….hmmmmm. Well.

Festival

Chocolate Festival
- with no chocolate to speak of -
In all fairness, after the festival, I heard that the chocolate was near the loud speakers. We could not dare to venture close to the loud speakers, because they were LOUD speakers and Funnel Cake has an aversion to LOUDness. SOooooo, maybe that wasn't the best spot.
For us anyway.

A year ago, Funnel Cake and I were living with Mom and Craig waiting for the time that we would join Chuck in Alaska. This spring we are here again, waiting for Chuck to join us.

Last year Funnel Cake and I attended the Chocolate Festival with Mom and I blogged about it here. This year Phyllis and I took the kids.

While we had fun, in the interest of full disclosure I have to say that the Chocolate Festival has outgrown their current location. The traffic was horrid. The parking options were scarce. Unless they change the location, I don't plan to go back.
