Best Friends

Just seeing the words "best friends" reminds me of my best friend when I was Charley's age.
Her name was Julie.

Remember these necklaces?
I still have my half!

Julie gave me this many, many, years ago.
Maybe it's a little weird I still have it. It was just one of those gifts I treasured.
Charley uses it now to hold her stamps and ink.

Alright onward to current events...

Charley's friend Macee is a year younger than her but you'd never know it. She's incredibly mature. Sometimes she and Charley get the opportunity to spend the night with one another. They're really no trouble. You hardly even know they are there....until bedtime and around 6:00 a.m.

I guess it's understandable.
Macee's probably a better playmate than this dude...

WHICH is a FULL size vampire man Charley made and slept with.

Charley doesn't really like it when her friend is distracted by Bo...

It helps that little girls have the short attention spans.

A little bit of this and then they were both out the door.
Big girl things were calling.

But aren't they precious?

The Alabamian/Virginian language barrier was evident during the spend the night party.
Remember when I asked for a hose pipe at the hardware store?
A couple of things I noticed...

Me referring to the baby..."She's ill."
Macee, with concern written all over her face...."Is your baby sick?"
Me.."No, she's just ornery."
Macee...blank stare
Me..."Upset! She's upset."

Me referring to the baby....."She's tore up right now."
Macee...confused face
Me...."She's just fussy. Upset. She's upset."

Gosh, I had NO idea I was such a backwoods foreigner.
Ok, so I had some idea.

Charley had a couple of friends in Alaska who didn't understand what a bloody boo boo was.
Ya'll know what a bloody boo boo is right?
That one's pretty self explanatory.
You don't want one of those.
I mean you should have seen me try to explain "bloody boo boo" to those girls!
It's amazing how quickly you forget the word INJURY or WOUND when all you've said for 5 years is bloody boo boo.
I'm all like, you know, uhhhh, a hurt spot,
a cut....that bleeds, an oozy sore, you know like a, a, a, hurty area!
AHHHHH!
My brain turned to mush.

THIS IS SOOOO SWEET. They stay up until 6??? They must really love each other's company. And um... Charley's vampire man? Maybe the best thing I've seen in a long time.

Hayley, this post absolutely made my day. Again. Thank you for posting this, I will always remember such good times with you, riding four wheelers, staying up until 6 am, the Kirk Cameron poster you had... Most of all, I remember feeling like you were a sister to me. You always had the ability to make me smile even when my family life was less than ideal. I'm in Huntsville (2563031675), give me a call if you have time for a visit before you leave Alabama. Much love!!

    Julie

Aw Julie! I should have said even more! Charley and her little friend remind me of us so much! One fair skinned and blonde. The other with dark hair and uhhh... not so olive skin:) (like yours) Most of my memories with you revolve around being at your house. It sounds like your memories involve being at my house. You needed a refuge and I'm glad I was a distraction for you during a rough time. My rough time came later after you'd left....unfortunately. Everytime I drive by Yogurt and Co. I think of you. It will always be Yogurt and Co. to me. I am going to be in Alabama for a little while so I will call you. Maybe we can meet in the middle. Love you, Julie.

I wouldn't mind at all drivng to Gadsden ifwe can go to Pruitt's and show Kason Noccalulla Falls. It is funny how most of our memories are of each others' homes. I will aways be grateful to you. There's no two ways about it, my life sucked at that time, except for when you and I were hanging out. That's the test of a real friendship; how easy it is. I'm sorry I wasn't there for you in your time of need. Trust me, you've never been far from my thoughts. I'll always love you for who you have become and my always being my first true friend. I really would love to see you again. Please call me, Sunday is the best day for us to get together. Kason works up to 12 hours a day for the city. I can't wait to meet your little ones. They are as beautiful as you! And, as much as I wanna see you, I'm always down for Pruitts:) Rainey is almost 18. She'll begin the nursing program @ UAH soon. They grow up fast! Call me anytime, I rarely sleep. P.S. I wish you still had that Kirk Cameron poster... he had on a black leather jacket..umm... talk to you soon!
