We're going to go back to Valentine's Day now, because that's the way this blog runs.
About one month behind.
DANCE
Chuck and Charley recently went to their THIRD Father/Daughter Dance.
Aren't they precious?
It's been fun hearing about how Charley interests have evolved through each dance.
The first two years she was all about dancing with her Daddy.
Even when no one on the dance floor, they'd be dancing the night away.
This year, Charley wasn't interested in dancing.
Instead she attracted a following of girls who spent their time playing games.
Also what's evolved, somehow, the daylight prior to the event!
The first dance must have been later in the year every year since
it's been dark when they leave out of here, which makes for poor pictures!!
DECORATIONS
Since we don't have an absolute ton of Valentine's decorations...(I mean WHO does have a ton of Valentine's Decorations? Would somebody please tell Charley that she is not a deprived child? Because she doesn't know.) Anyway, because we don't have an absolute ton of Valentine's decorations, Charley decided we'd put them all in the hallway. It was our "Tunnel of Love."
Pretty tacky stuff but it was for the kid.
I mean come on, I can handle some plastic/paper cutouts
taped to the wall for a month for the sake of my child's happiness.
It was required that her Dad and I contribute to the mailbox very frequently. And we complied, though if we fell behind Charley was sure to remind us that her box was empty.
Charley made the monster mailbox for her class Valentines.
Totally all her design and execution.
I went crazy and made homemade sugar cookies with chocolate decorations for her class party.
PARTY AT THE HOUSE
What you see here is a Pinterest idea gone wrong.
Charley decided to just make the best of it and finger paint instead.
These are fruit roll up fortune cookies.
What they have to do with Valentine's Day I have no idea.
I just found the idea on Pinterest, thought it be quick and fun, and went with it.
I asked everyone to write four fortunes each and then we wrapped them up.
Chuck discovered they were only easy/fun to open if they were cooled first.
When they were cool they snapped open like real fortune cookies.
I can't remember any of the fortunes but I remember they were very funny.
We think we're hilarious.
Charley and I sat down and made some hearts with mouths (with clothespins)
and a love mouse (made from a heart shaped piece of paper).
It's sweet that Charley still gets so much joy from little things like this.
I mean I can definetly see a shift in her interests in that she's not entertained by these types of things for as long as she used to be, but she still enjoys making stuff. It's good.
And we made some paper plate heart hats that I cannot display here on the blog because well, they turned out a bit phallic. I'm sorry to say it out loud like that but it is what it is...or was. We didn't mean it and the kids had no idea.
So it's the thought that counts on the crafts and the decorations and alllll that.
And the love. The love counts big time.
HAHAHAHA PHALLIC HATS. This is a really great entry. Love the pics of before the dance. Chuck looks very handsome and Charley looks beautiful. That's so sweet that they still do that together. I bet she's proud of her daddy. You really went all out with Valentine's Day. I am impressed. You have lots of energy for this kind of thing. I am sure the kids love it. They will appreciate it one day even more. Charley's mailbox is mucho awesomeness btw.
