THE EASTER BUNNY CAME TO TOWN
AND THEN WE WENT TO A NEW CHURCH
But we had to leave before it really began, because the seemingly never ending music was so INCREDIBLY LOUD. I was not only afraid for my newborn baby's eardrums but for the rest of the family's as well. I think they might have even had a smoke machine.
And they showed very violent scenes from "The Passion" on a three very big screens,
that Charley was just not ready for.
And Chuck was ill as a hornet all morning.
He might have thought the same thing about me.
We might have avoided speaking to one another from around 9:30 - 12:30.
And then it rained, and rained. So I was forced to do quick snapshots INSIDE the house.
I wanted to set my babies in the green grass for photos.
Oh well.
Wah, wah, wah. Right?
I have so much to be thankful for.
Even this...
I love this crying face baby.
And also, there's Jesus. I mean, come on.
Jesus, really went through some stuff for us.
I can't talk about it.
I'm very emotional about Jesus.
Ok, I'll talk about it.
Charley and I were reading Easter stories in her bed a few nights ago and I was explaining how Jesus, while in the Garden of Gethsemane, prayed to God, "God if you can take this away, if you can fix it where I don't have to go through this, then please do.
If you can't, then I'll do what I need to do."
Obviously I'm paraphrasing...
"My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."
Luke 22:42
Charley and I talked about that a while. Maybe I'm wrong, but I assume, Jesus was a little afraid. He was human after all. That was real blood he shed for us. He hurt for us.
Then one thing led to another and we got to feeling really sorry for Peter. I mean Peter didn't mean to deny Christ. Not really. Peter loved Jesus, but he was scared. He had just seen his friend Jesus, beaten for claiming to be the son of God. I imagine Peter was very, very afraid. And before he knew it, he'd already said he didn't know Jesus THREE times. I bet when he heard that rooster crow, he thought, "He was right. Jesus was right. It was me. I denied Him." And he wept.
And then Charley and I wept.

Hayley this touched me so. I can't talk about it. Thanks for sharing. I'll comment more later.
ReplyDeleteAmazing. I am so moved by this one, too. I feel the same way as you and Charley when I think of what Jesus did for us and the actual circumstances surrounding His death. We forget to look at it as a REAL thing that happened amongst humans like ourselves. It must have been such a painful situation. But thank God it happened. The other day the music pastor said something like, "We may not think much of ourselves sometimes, but Jesus thinks we're to die for". I love that.
ReplyDeleteThat's one of my favorite songs you posted there, too. Sandy Patti's voice fits so well with those beautiful lyrics. Thanks sister. This was kind of my "church" of the day. Love you.
