The Soul Cleansing Blood of the Lamb

I can't stop singing that song.
Are you washed...in the blood...in the soul cleansing blood of the lamb....
Are your garments spotless...are they white as snow...are you washed in the blood of the lamb.

My baby is. She's washed. Her soul is clean.

Charley and her cousin attended Vacation Bible School at Dwight Baptist when we were in Alabama.  On the fourth day of Vacation Bible School, Charley confessed to believing that Jesus died for her sins so that she could have eternal life in heaven. Of course, Charley, with the sweet, accepting, heart of a child, had always believed in God. In fact, she'd been saved before. A few years ago, when she and I were on the porch swing together, we said the sinner's prayer.
Right then and there I knew where she'd spend eternity.
Though, it was so long ago, she didn't remember it.
So when she ran out of VBS on Thursday evening (a day my sister-in-law and I were really tempted to let the kids skip) and quickly told me she'd accepted Jesus into her heart, I was very thankful. And the bonus was that she'd have the opportunity to be baptised at Dwight Baptist!
Dwight Baptist is the church that I grew up in. A lot of my family attends there.
I was baptised there!
Since we haven't found a church home here in Virginia yet, I worried about Charley having the opportunity to be baptised. I've always believed that baptism isn't necessary for your entrance to heaven, rather a statement to others that you believe, but I secretly really, really, wanted her to do it.

It's a bold move.
I mean let's just think about it in a non-spiritual kind of way for a second.
You're 7.
You have to stand in front of the entire church congregation, speak into a microphone, and be fully immersed into water, totally trusting that the preacher is going to pull you up and out, fast.

But my baby is brave and she spoke so clearly and so loudly....I was so proud.

My anxiety level was high.
I was trying to hide it from her.

She wasn't the only soul being baptised that Sunday morning.

It was a good day.

Oh this got me all choked up. What a beautiful thing. I don't like that I missed it, but I'm so glad it happened. And love that she got to do it at Dwight. Thank God & Praise God
